Excellent late 19th century Japanese porcelain bowl. The bowl itself is 8 1/2" in diameter and 2 1/2" high. It sits on a foot ring and has 5 lobes.The porcelain has a slight grey-blue tint and the bottom shows a light orange-peel finish. Inside the bowl we have a cobalt border with gold vines and orange and gold flowers. In the center is a large dragon done in mainly orange and gold with some green foliage and other brown decoration. There are three panels with other beasts, also done in orange and gold and these are separated by panels that look to represent a garden wall. The outside of the bowl is also decorated.
