Japanese Ceramic Kannon Goddess of Mercy Figure Meiji Period. A Japanese fired ceramic that looks like an aged bronze. The features and robe are deeply and finely molded.Red clay has been molded into the figure of Kannon and than stained a dark brown giving the appearance of a bronze. It is based off the Chinese Guanyin goddess of mercy.
It has a flat base with a hole for firing. The details of the face and robe are well done. 8 ¾ (22.2 cm) tall. Weighs 1 lb 2.0 oz (510 g).There is a chip on the edge of her headdress and another on the end of her flared robe. There are abrasions on the top of the headdress, as well. A decorative Kannon to give your home serenity and the look of age.
