Lovely Pair Meiji Period Japanese Silver Wire Cloisonne Enamel Vases w/ Pigeons. A very beautiful antique Rare Pair Meiji cloisonne vases. Rare to find a pair in this condition. A'True' pair with scenes (but very different) of pigeons mulling around and in flight. Colors are brilliant and silver wire detail is outstanding.
The ground color is looks midnight blue when next to black vases, but still very dark. These vases exhibit very high standard of fine Japanese hand craftsmanship. From the Meiji Period, the cloison detail work in silver wire was certainly performed by a master of Japanese cloisonne.
These antique vases are in excellent original condition. No cracks, repairs, or dents. There a couple fleabites behind the the tail of one of the white flying birds that can be seen in photos. Mentioned for complete and but very minor. Some normal wear to base.The recurring white spot is flash off high gloss finish. Approximate size is 6 tall.
