This is a good wooden Meiji period Netsuke of a Blind Stone Lifter most likely a Masseur. It is well carved with good detail and a charming and humorous subject the lifter having a large lump on his head presumably from a failed attempt.
The colour and patination are both lovely. Signed on an inlaid tablet Gyokkei. I have quite a few good quality pieces of japanese art, netsukes and Okimono currently for sale. With more to follow over the next few weeks, so please check my other items regularly!
