Pair Japanese CLOISONNE Enamel on Bronze 12 Vases, Meiji Period, c. 1880
This listing is for a pair of gorgeous antique Japanese cloisonne enamel on bronze vases, Meiji Period, c. The vases have a wide floral decorated band around the shoulder area with a more narrow colorful band above and below with four medallions that include Phoenix birds in two panels. The background color of the neck and lower body is a grayish-midnight blue. There are multi-designs covering most of the body on each matching vase. Measure 12" high with a 2 1/4" diameter top and 2 3/4 diameter base. Combined weight is 3 pounds. These nice vases are in very good to excellent Estate condition with no major issues. One vase has two faint fractures in the background color on the lower body causing a slight color break and very minor hairline crack and a tiny bit of roughness in this area. The second vase has a very minor bend on the top bronze collar causing minor roughness in the cloisonne on the outside below this spot. The bend in the rim is barely noticed and the damage on the outside of the vase is hidden by the bronze rim and dark color of the band on the neck.
None of these minor flaws are noticed unless close inspection is taken. Have been in the Antiques business for over 30 years and try to describe our items as accurately as possible.
