This listing is for a lovely Japanese Satsuma porcelain enamel decorated cup and saucer decorated with warrior figures and a dragon in the design. The dragon has an enamel textured body and the entire design is gilt embellished. Cup measures 2 1/8" high and 3 1/4" in diameter. Saucer measures 4 3/4 in diameter. Combined weight is 10.8 ounces.
Both pieces are in excellent Estate condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. Cup does have interior crazing. SATSUMA POTTERY IS A YELLOWISH EARTHENWARE USUALLY DECORATED WITH DETAILED JAPANESE FIGURES WITH EXPRESSIVE FACIAL FEATURES, LANDSCAPES AND OFTEN FURTHER EMBELLISHED WITH DRAGONS IN RELIEF.
