Antique Bronze Japanese Vase with Birds MURAKAMI Meiji Period 15 Tall (KMT)

Antique Bronze Japanese Vase with Birds - MURAKAMI - Meiji Period 15 Tall (KMT). This heavy, tall bronze vase has a broad flared top and bottom with beautifully detailed designs. On one side of the vase are 5 almost three-dimensional birds flying over crashing waves of water. The other side has 2 more birds and a rectangle plaque with Japanese markings indicating it was made in the Meiji Period by Murakami Bronzesmiths. The background is a series of rectangles with wavy lines in a geometric pattern. Each side has a long, slender handle of smooth bronze. The top 3 of the vase opening is smooth and the rest of the interior has a rough texture. This is a very fine piece.
There are a few dings on the edge of the top and one pushed in area on the base, but nothing that detracts from its beauty or function. Measures approximately 14 3/4" tall by 7 1/4" in diameter.
