A Meiji period Japanese Satsuma ware miniature vase. It has hand painted panels of Rakan, a Samurai and women seated with a child. Around the upper part is a moulded representation of a dragon which is finished in gold. It is marked to the base'Satsuma' in kanji under the Shimazu clan crest.A chip to the back of the dragons head, otherwise very good. The crazing is an intentional feature of Satsuma ware.
