If you are interested in purchasing please request additional photos - these depict the rust inside the box and the filed feet. Based on the images provided: Your lovely black and gilt worked Japanese box dates to either the late Meiji period Circa 1880 to 1900. The landscape decoration with building and trees is very well done and the simple elegance of the floating butterflies around the sides is just lovely. The mark on the base with the dragonfly looks to be the mark of Komai Otojiro (1842 to 1917), who was known for fine gilt overlays and damascene work, often known as Zogan work.
