A Japanese sumida ware bowl with three children, one having a jacket glazed with blue crosses. Not quite equidistant spacing of the figures, and one has a conch type shell at their side. High fired thick drip glaze to rim with green interior.
Ribbed lower portion of exterior unglazed and painted orange. In the style of Ryosai, but apparently unmarked, late 19th or early 20th century Meiji period.Wear to the orange paint, slight production flaws otherwise a good example. Height: 6 cm (2 3/8 inches). Width: 13.5 cm (5 1/4 inches).
