Japanese Kutani Porcelain Small Vase. A diminutive 19th century Japanese Kutani porcelain vase. It is decorated with a scene of perhaps a formal visit with ladies attending a temple with hanging lanterns and dignitaries looking on. There are further scenic vignettes with lakeside scenes and a torii gate.
The upper shoulders have fan shaped patterns with decorative gilt work and there are two decorative handles. Around the rim is a Greek key pattern in gilt. It has a script mark to the base simply reading'Kutani'. A small glaze pop to the rim with associated small loss of gilt.
Overall a very nicely decorated example. Height: 11.8 cm (4 5/8 inch). Width: 6.5 cm (2 1/2 inch). Weight: 152 grams (before packing).
