Antique Meiji Period Gofun Painted Wood Japanese Hina Emperor & Empress Dolls
Offered Here is a pair of large antique Japanese Hina dolls. The heads and hands are carved wood and hand painted with Gofun. They are both elaborately dressed in silk robes with hand embroidery. They both measure approximately 9" in height and span about 11" wide. These dolls are very old and show age related wear. They are both paper and straw stuffed. The silk is a little deteriorated and fragile. The emperor has a missing chip to his thumb. The Empress's long hair has a paper wrap that is still intact. The Emperor doll also has wooden feet that are tucked under his robes. PLEASE VIEW AND ENLARGE ALL PHOTOS AS PART OF THE DESCRIPTION. If you have any questions or need more photos just ask.
