Antique Sake Set Egg Shell PORCELAIN with Gilt Cranes by EIRAKU KUTANI 2 Bottles and 4 Cups. Antique Tea Set Egg Shell PORCELAIN with Gilt Cranes by EIRAKU KUTANI 1 Tea pot and 3 matching cups with lids. For fastidious Kutani fanciers,'s the cr ème de la crè me of sake set and tea services from the famed Eiraku Kilns. Included in the tea set is a pot with traditional side-mounted handle and three matching cups. Included in sake set they are two bottles and four cups (one slightly chipped) All have dazzling kinrande decoration, featuring a classic gilt motif of auspicious Manchurian cranes (tsuru) winging their way amidst fiery clouds and billowing Buddhistic royal canopies, all on a spectacular red ground. I estimate this set to date from Meiji period (1868 -1912). The mark according to Gotheborg's site says "Kutani" which are the first two characters on the right. It says 9 or "ku" and valleys. This is the area this particular pottery comes from. The two characters on the left "ei" and "raku"are for "Eiraku" which is the family lineage of potters.

SIZE: The pot reaches a maximum height at the tip of its handle of about 3.25 inches, and is 5.75 inches wide at the same point. Cups are upwards of 2.25 inches high by 3.75 inches wide.

The 2 Sake Bottles are 5 Inches (12.7 cm) Tall and 1.5 Inches (3.81 cm) in Diameter at the Base. The Cups are 1.5 Inches (3.81 cm) Tall and have a Base Diameter of 1.5 Inches (3.81 cm). They are 2 Inches (5.08 cm) in Diameter at the Lip. One of the Four Sake Cups has a tiny chip in the lip but it is very minor as shown in the photos.
