Japanese Meiji Period Satsuma Lidded Jar, Kannon & Immortals. Japanese moriage satsuma jar and metal lid dating from the Meiji period (1868 - 1912). The jar is of square form and stands on four feet and features a dragon intertwined amongst the goddess Kanonn and a group of immortals. Measures 12cm / 4.75 tall to the top of the finial. The base is marked with the Shimazu family crest in a cartouche above four characters. There are no chips, cracks and restoration; there is some light surface wear and fine age-related crazing. The metal lid is slightly ill-fitting and may not be original. Please see all photos for confirmation of condition.
