A large antique Japanese Imari charger (plate). Japan, Meiji period, circa 1880. This is a very large and impressive antique Japanese Imari plate. ALL hand painted in polychrome enamel, in blue cobalt, red and gold gilding.
Decorated with flowers, plants, dragons and couples (offering a gift). With blue symbols (drawings) at the back, as pictured (see photo). The gold gilding highlights decoration, gives more elegance and luxury to the work.
Diameter : 18 inches (46 cm). H : 3 inches (7.5 cm). Weight : 6 lbs 4.5 oz (2.85 kgs). The heavy weight reflects the thickness of the porcelain and authenticity of the piece.
Please see photos carefully to admire the beauty of the work. Very small hair line from the back at the edge (unnoticeable from the front side) see last photo. Normal wear due to age. No chips, cracks or any other damage. Clean and ready to be placed.
