Meiji period Japanese lacquer box for cigars rare item
Highly unusual Meiji period cigar smoking box. I have not found a similar one online during my searches, possibly unique. The box has a beautiful bird and flower design on all sides. The lid folds away to reveal a compartment for 12 cigars, or pens for instance.

The divider can be removed in case it is not needed. On the front there is a small compartment with a lid where matches can be stored. The most front section folds open to reveal a strike-strip to light the matches. (Haven't tried this) The condition of the box is good with some minor areas showing the normal wear and tear that can be expected from an object made 130-140 years ago.

The most notable damages are a crack in the wood of the base which can be seen from the left of the match box. This is not very noticeable on top though.

On the left side panel some chips in the lacquer. Please do check the video and ask me for any additional information you may need. Dimensions are: 15cm wide 19cm deep 22cm high.
