Rare Antique Japanese Agateware Banko Teapot with Five Faces. Meiji Period
Very rare late 19th or early 20th century Japanese agateware Banko teapot with relief moulded faces hand-painted with overglaze enamels. Manufacturers stamp to the base. Enamels are in good condition consistent with age. One short hairline in the glaze around the rim (see last photo). Lid is somehow jammed in position and I was unable to get it off as I didn't want to damage it. You can try to get the lid off at your own risk but I would personally leave it as is.
